Understanding who it is that paid the price....

God Himself came to earth and dwelt among us in the flesh (John 1:14, 17, 18). In the Bible Jesus is called, Emmanuel (Matthew 1:22-23) which means, God with us. Jesus, who is part of the divine godhead (Father, SON and Spirit) willingly laid aside all the glory, majesty and power he had in heaven and humbly took on the form of a man (Philippians 2:6-11). Jesus experienced life as we do in every way but without sinning (Hebrews 4:15). The Bible says, "He committed no sin and no deceit was found in His mouth" (1 Peter 2:22). Jesus gave up the glory of heaven to come to earth to suffer and die for sinful people (1 Peter 3:18).

The Bible says, "For God commendeth his love to us in this, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for the ungodly" (Romans 5:8). We are ALL ungodly. "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Now while "the wages [penalty] of sin is death [body and soul thrown into hell] the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ" (Romans 6:23). A person receives this gift when they receive Jesus by repenting and believing the Gospel (Mark 3:15). This will be explained shortly. But first it is essential that we speak about Jesus as Saviour. So who exactly is Jesus.
