The Bible says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, [ie. they have repented and put their faith in Christ for salvation]

he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Jesus said, "I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents." (Luke 15:10).

If you have repented and believed the gospel, all heaven is rejoicing.

You have been "Born Again"!

In John 3:1-18, Jesus talked about the need to be born again. He said that unless you are born again, you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. You've humbled yourself before the living God. You've repented of your sin and put your trust in Jesus who paid your fine on the cross and rose again. The Bible says you are born again. You have had a new birth into God's family with God as your heavenly Father. Praise God for his grace in opening your heart to see your need for his forgiveness.

When you repented before God and put your trust in Jesus, God gave you the Holy Spirit to live in you. In your new forgiven life, now that your relationship with God has been restored, you need to grow and learn how to walk under the control of the Spirit so that you may live a life that honours the one who saved you. He died for you, now live for him.

You can be sure as you live for him, that since he died to save you, he will not leave you now. The Bible says,

"Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!. Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation" (Romans 5:9-11).

The Bible says God is rich in mercy and that his love is beyond understanding (Ephesians 3:19). When you repented and put your trust in Jesus for salvation, many amazing things happened to you. Listen to what the Bible says:

  • You were born again by the power of the Holy Spirit (John 1:12-13, John 3:1-8)

  • You were made a child of God (Romans 8:15-16)

  • You received eternal life (John 3:16)

  • All your sins were washed away (1 John 1:9 - 1 John 2:2)

  • God has be come your true Father in heaven and you are no longer a child of the devil (John 8:44, Matthew 6:9)

You became a Christian - one who is "in Christ" (Acts 11:26) and one of God's "saints". "Saint" does not mean perfect/sinless but one who has been set apart by God. God set you apart from the world and made you a citizen of heaven when you repented and trusted Christ. This is all a part of his amazing grace. Saving you from sin and its penalty is only just the start (Romans 5:10; Ephesians 5:10)

Your new life with Jesus Christ as your Saviour has just begun. We want to share with you now how getting right with God is only just the beginning.

Being a Christian is about experiencing daily the Saviour's love for you in this life as well as looking forward to it in the next (heaven). Living the Christian life is about...

  • discovering God's purpose and plan for your life; the things he created you for

  • learning how he wants to use you to bless others, starting with your family

  • being guided by the Holy Spirit who now lives in you

  • overcoming the temptations within and the evil outside of you, while you live in this fallen and broken world

  • experiencing the truth of God's Word (the Bible) in your own life every day

  • encountering God in prayer and finding strength and fellowship in the company of his people

Being a Christian is not just about being forgiven and knowing you will go to heaven when you die. Being a Christian means experiencing what Jesus meant when he said he came to give you life, life to the full... right here and now in this life (John 10:10). Before you leave this site, we want to share some of these things with you.

To help you as you step out as a follower of Jesus (from this day until he comes again to take you to be with him forever in heaven), we want to highlight for you five key ways to strengthen your relationship with God and know more of the full life he came to give.

Jesus said, "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" (John 10:10). Now that you have begun a new life with Jesus as Saviour, don't let the devil rob you of all that God has for you. You are still in a spiritual battle. We praise God that you have put your trust in him for Salvation. We pray also that this will not be the end of the story and that the reality of your new life will be seen in a hunger and a desire for the things of God.
